TRADE WITH AUSTRALIA.

MANCHESTER AS A PORT

[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 11.10 a.in.) London, April 8. Mr A. H. Peake (South Australian Premier), speaking at the Manchester City Hall, saidf Australians sometimes heard, of the decay of the Empire, but he saw no sign of decadence, and the bonds would be strengthened if Britain gave preference to colonial producers. Ho greatly sympathised with the suggestion that Australian trade should be decentralised. Produce should be sent direct to Manchester and other ports. He advised them to induce shipping companies to make Manchester a port of call.
