GERMANY AND “SOCCER.”
WONDERFUL GROWTH OF FOOTBALL. An English writer, “Tityrus,” in the “Athletic News,” has received a letter from an ex-English player, drawing attention to the “great advancement of Association football in Germany.” These are his words, and ho continues “Here is an exact list of the active members of football clubs showing at a glance the rapid strides that the game is making here;—
“As these figures are official and correct in every particular, it is quite clear that in Germany alone the game is no longer in its infancy—and these statistics, of course, do not take . ccount of Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, and Denmark, where the game is well established. I have only mentioned those Continental countries in northern and central Europe where the game is in vogue.”
