U.S. MONEY TRUST.
If the Congressional Committee, which is investigating the alleged money trust,, has done nothing else, it, hap brought into prominence members of the late Mr Pierpont Morgan’s “happy family” of financiers, of whose existence and influence the average American citizen has no idea. On January 15, the committee extracted interesting information from Mr Albert Cameron But rage, a prominent Boston corporation lawyer, who organised the “Copper Trust” —the. Amalgamated Copper Company. In this gigantic deal he had as partners Mr Pierpont Morgan, Mr John D. Rockefeller, the late Mr H. H. Rogers, and other financial giants, but ho professed, ignorance as to the exact profit they made, “Is it not a fact that you made £6,000,000?” asked Mr Pujo, chairman. of the committee. “I really do not know what the others made, but I did pretty well out of, it myself,’ ’was the reply. “How much, did you. make, then?” “Well, it is some time ago now, and I could not say off-hand,” protested the witness. “How many millions are you worth?” —■“! really do not know,” came the astonishing answer. Further interesting , revelations are expected when Mr William Rockefeller, ex-president of the Standard Oil Trust, and brother of “John D.,” gives evidence. The multi-millionaire’s doctor insists that too much talking might cause him to lose his voice for over.
