PUBLIC SERVICE EXEMPTIONS. [Per Press Association.] Wellington, April 4. On the recommendation of the Commissioners, the Governon-in-Council exempted the following from the Public Service Act: The Government life insurance canvassers for life or accident; the officers and crews of Government steamers, except the masters; the presidents* of Maori Land Boards; the State Fire Insurance canvassers; the private secretary to the Premier; the secretary to the Cabinet; the Solicitor-General; the High Commissioner’s staff; the Resident Commissioner and staffs on the Cook and Nieuo Islands; the officers of the Agriculture Department whose duties are performed beyond New Zealand; and any officer who does not give his whole time to the Public Service.
