AN INTERESTING LIST. The Auckland writer “Phaeton” has been hunting up some interesting figures concerning the winnings of horses who proved cheap lots in the sale ring. They are as follow :'— ’ " ‘ ‘ 1 , , Cost. ' Won. ■
Carbine was sold at three years old for 3000gns, to be subsequently sold for : 13,000gns as a- sire. Then Canteen _ was. sold for 3000gns by the man Vho Mia'' as ' a yearling, for lOOgns. r Gladslone,’ bought as a, yearling for lOOgns. (Gladstone, bought as a yearling for lOOgns, was quitted at tbreg years old for 1200gns, while Spliition, who was also secured as a youngster for lOOgns, was sold at six years old for 4000gns. At fourteen years old Multiform was sold for 3750gns, while Cruciform at ten years old realised 1350gns.
A London cablegram states that the Lincolnshire Handicap resulted: —Berrildon 1, Junior 2, Grammon 3. There was a desperate tussle between Berrildon and Cuthbert over the last furlong. Cuthbert finished first by a head, but was disqualified for bumping and boring. A Sydney cablegram to-day states that Eudorus was passed in at 1200 guineas.
