The National Union of Railwayman adopted a rule that no member be allowed to institute legal proceedings against the union, so as to avoid a recurrence of trouble similar to that in connection with Osborne. Many members question the legality of the rule. THE NEW SOUTH WALES COLLIERIES. (Received 8.40 a.m.) Sydney, April 2. Large numbers of southern miners, fearing that the strike will ,bo a protracted one, are leaving the district. There are many complaints of the inertness of the Government over the strike.

NON-UNIONIST CRUSADE

(Received 9.40 a.m.) Sydney, April 2

Members of the Amalgamated Miners’ Union and other Unions on the Barrier are carrying on a strong crusade against non-unionists. The whole shift employed on the amalgamated zinc works struck because four men declined to join tbe union. Subsequently, the whole of the employees of the Silverton Tramway Company were called out, and tne traffic was completely stopped. The employees .of several firms Knocked off because of the rciusal ol the clerks to join the union. The trouble threatens to spread to all the unions, who are strongly supporting tne movement. Buptu-ss is seriously affected. A mass meeting of the Mines’ Association decided to ask the Government to nationalise the Silverton trams.

Fifty-two thousand mniers at Rhondda and Rhymney have given notice to strike if 50,000 non-unionists are still employed. A thousand miners at Wrexham struck as a protest aganst the employment of non-unionists. OUTCRY AGAINST THE f ERR\ COMPANIES. (Received 9.40 a.m.) Sydney, April 2. There is an outcry against some of the ferry companies for rais.ng the fates to make up the extra outlay caused by the increases in the men’s pay as tho result of the strike.
