COURT STRATFORD, A.O.F.

The quarterly meeting of Court Stratford of the Ancient Order of Foresters, Stratford, was held in the Foresters’ Hall last evening, when there was a good attendance of members. The quinquennium report for the last term of five years ending December 31st, 1910, was received from the Registrar and read before the members. The report disclosed a most satisfactory position of the Court and showed the great advancement made. In the previous valuation the Court showed a deficiency of £1146, whereas the position now shown is a surplus of £419, and in the words oi the Registrar “The Court is to be congratulated on the excellent result shown.” In his report of the Taranaki District the Registrar says; “In conclusion, the district must be congratulated on the very satisfactory progress made since the last valuai tion. Of the nine Courts five have surpluses, and only one of the remainder is below 18s in the £ in point of solvency. It may be added that it is impossible to avoid being struck - with the many evidences of efficient management throughout the District. It is in many respects one of the beet managed in the Dominion, and its present good position is in no small measure due to that fact.” A jSocial Committee was set up to arrange for a continuance of the Court’s successful assemblies which have been so enjoyable in the past. Judging by the enthusiasm shown a thoroughly enjoyable series of dances are assured. It was decided to make application to the District for a grant from the Benevolent Fund for a distressed Member. One new member was proposed and other routine business gone through when the Court closed in due form at 10.30 p.m.
