Ip three firms alone 200 hands will be thrown out of work in consequence of the stopping of the Waipori power. Efforts are- being made to run the gas plant. A big gang of workmen is engaged at the Waipori fluming, and it is hoped that with fine weather the trouble will he got over by Wednesday morning. NAPIER CONTRIBUTES £7OO TO HOSPITAL COLLECTION. Napier, March 31. The hospital collection in Napier on Saturday realised well .aver £3OO. Donations since received increased the total to over £SOO, and it is expected that when all the lists are in the total will not.be far short of £7OO.
