HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. Monday evening’s new programme will be longer than usual, a special picture being included in the series, and the performance will be commenced at ten minutes to eight. “The ■ Danites” is the star drama. The film tells the story of the persecution of a family in • the Western States of America by the Mormons, who are well-known all the world ovei; is a tyrannical religious body. Formerly, when a .Mormon family incurred the displeasure of the elders, as by disobedience, it would be condemned 1 to total extermination by the “destroying angels,” a number of men whose duty it was to carry out the cruel commands of the leaders of the chiii'ch. This story deals with ' the total extermination of one unhappy family. While on the prairie they are attacked, and only the mother survives. The woman, dressed as a man, tries to avenge her relations, but in the end is shot down. The special picture tells the story of the writing of the famous battle hymn of the American Republic, and is a remarkably fine production. A Kalem drama of a novel type is also to be screened. “The Power ■of a Hymn” relies for its effect to a great extent upon the rendering by the orchestra of the hymn “Abide with Me.” The story is an exceptionally strong one. “Her Gift,” a Stock Exchange drama, should also be welcomed. “THE FOLLIES.” That clever and versatile combination “The Follies,” which amused a Stratford audience a few months ago, will pay a return visit on Tuesday night, Ist April. Though the lines of the entertainment are now familiar, “The Follies” can claim to be one of the chief exponents of it. Since their last visit to Stratford “The Follies” have toured the South Island, and also played a return season of three weeks in Wellington, and press notices to hand are unanimous as to the cleverness of this entertainment. “The Follies” on Tuesday night will give an entirely new programme, new songs, new dances, new sketches, and some exceptionally line ensemble numbers. The box plan for Tuesday night is open at Grubb’s music warehouse. There is no extra charge for booking-
