TREATMENT OF IRON ORE.
REPORTED SUCCESSFUL INVENTION. GOOD NEWS FOR TARANAKI. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) London, March 26. The newspapers report that an invention has been successfully treated for converting iron ore into steel without blast furnaces at a third of the present cost. 'J he ore is reduced by heat obtained by gas from the slack.
