It is an extraordinary fact uthait >in many cases, when a horse is WttU up to auction on a racecourse, and fails to sell, ho generally manages :to win a race later in the day. Such an occurrence took place at Nelson, when Waipuni was put up, but failed to reach the reserve of 35gs. An hour later he scored in the Farewell Handicap, and credited his owner with nearly twice this sum in stake money. Rock Ferry could have been bought cheaply just before he won the last race at Invercargill the other day.
