THEFT AT ROTOKARE.

ALLEGED FORGERY. Mr W. Rublitz, of Rotokare, visited Xgaere Gardens on Monday (says the Eltham Argus), and during his absence some preson, at present unknown, broke into the house. On his return Mr Rublitz discovered that the house had been ransacked and the cheque book and several small trinkets, including a gold locket and chain belonging to his little daughter, had been stolen. Early on Tuesday morning he went into Eltham and communicated this information to the police, and next day notified the bank. Unfortunately, however, the thief in the meantime had forged the cheques and got one for a sum of £2 10s, cashed by a local firm. He also attempted to change others at several local business establishments but without success.
