Sportsmen will rejoice at the decision of the Stratford Acclimatisation Society to apply for an open season both for native and imported game, the previous resolution having been rescinded. Hawera and New Plymouth have both applied for the open season, and their application has been granted. At the meeting of the local society held last week it was also decided to approach the neighbouring societies with the view to appointing joint rangers. Twenty-five brace of pheasants will be purchased, and liberated after the coming season closes. The Stratford Bowjing Club sent four rinks down to Hawera yesterday, but they were beaten fairly easily both in the morning and in the afternoon. Hawera also beat three rinks from St. John’s, Wanganui. , A few doses of Tonking’s Linseed Emulsion and your cold’s gone. x
