ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
DROWNING FATALITIES. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, March 24. Through the capsizing of a small boat in the harbor to-day an elderly man, named Charles Watson met his death. All the occupants of the boat were rescued by a launch, but Watson was unconscious and did not recover.
A null hand named Harry Bridge was found drowned at Rangiriri Bridge. It is supposed that he fell from the wharf.
A FARMER’S SUICIDE
Dunedin March 24
This morning a man named Gifford, a farmer, living at Dunback, committed suicide by shooting himself. Gifford recently came from Macraes.
YOUNG MAN’S SUICIDE
Auckland, March 24
The body of a young man, supposed to be George Baddox, was found lying on a vacant section to-day with a bullet wound in the man’s forehead and a revolver at his side, pointing to his having committed suicide. A BLASTING FATALITY. Gisborne, March 24. On Sunday morning an old man named Win. Fahey, a contractor, was killed. Fahey was engaged in a road contract, and found it necessary to put in a blast for stone. He ignited the fuse without any success, and leaving it for half an hour approached the scene to investigate. As he approached the blast wont off, and several big pieces of stone struck Fahey, the body being fearfully mangled. The unfortunate man succumbed to his injuries half an hour later.
