When Rude Boy fell in the Steeple chase h© broke his neck and was des troyed. The Stipendiary Stewards asked for an explanation of Valido’s running on Saturday as compared with yesterday, and adjourned the inquiry.
The attendance at the races was 55,000. When Cadonia’s rider (J, S. McDonald) weighed in after the Cup he collapsed. Cadonia was bumped neai the six-furlong post, and he wen! down on his nose. His rider ripped him up with both hands, the efforf reopening an old wound. McDonalc said: “I don’t know how I won; he finished on his own. I rode him at the finish with the long rein.” Melbourne, March 25.
The Williamstown Easter Handicap resulted: —Ruffian 1, Oakdene 2, Safrano 3. Twelve started, including Midnight Sun and Puaka. Won by one and a quarter lengths. Time, 2min 11 1-sec.
