MORROW & CO'S BANKRUPTCY.
CREDITORS SEEK THE AID OF THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT.

The affairs of Norrow and Coy., mail order agents, were further enquired into yesterday by the official assignee. A statement whs received from the Official Assignee in Sydney, giving details of the investigation ‘of the company’s affairs. Their estate there was sequestrated m June, 1912, when the liabilities' .amounted to ,£isf7 and assets £336.
The Official Assignee here stated that ■he approached -th& Justice Department to have,Howe, the Wellington manager, and a partner-'brought back, but so far nothing had been done. A creditor remarked: “I will spend up to £SO to bring the man Luck.”
The Official Assignee said nothing could be done without an order of the Court. “That was the worst of the Companies Act,” he said. He had recently wound up a small company, and it cost £BOO ‘in expenses. It could have been done for £lO rider the Bankruptcy Act., , Finally it was resolved: “That the Justice Department be asked to take the case up, seeing that at least 96 people had been allegedly swindled out of their money, and . that 1737 persons had paid, deposits on goods, and they had received neither goods nor deposits back.” ':Mi V 7 r , •
