Napier, March

Considerable interest was taken r--day in the Supreme Court case F. 1. A. Gordon v. New Zealand Times, ; claim for £2OOO for alleged libel. Sii Robert Stout (Chief Justice) presided. Mr Dolan appeared for plaintiff, and Sir John Findlay and Mr Lusk for the defendant company. Gordon was subjected to some severe cross-examination by Sir John Findlay, and the Chief Justice.

After twenty minutes’ deliberation the jury returned with a verdict tor the defendant company, with cost* on the highest scale and for the second counsel's fees.
