THE LOAN PROPOSALS.
POLL TO BE TAKEN TO-MORROW. Present indications are that there will be record polling to-morrow, when the four issues of the loan proposals will be placed before the ratepayers. The Borough Council Chambers will be the only polling booth, and ratepayers can record their votes at any time between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. A point to be remembered is that while ratepayers only are qualified to vote on the proposals, the qualification possessed by the wife is possessed equally by her husband, or vice versa. The ballot papers are coloured red, white, blue, and yellow. On each is set forth the details of the proposals, briefly and clearly. On the bottom of each paper is (1) “I vote for the above proposal” and (2) “I vote against the above proposal.” If the ratepayer is in favour of this particular loan, he or she will, of course, strike out No. 2. Mr Skoglund, the Town Clerk, will be the chief returning officer, and, bearing in mind the capable manner in which Mr Skoglund can control a poll, the results may be expected to bo announced somewhere in the neighbourhood of 8 o’clock.
