LOANS FOR STRATFORD.
(To the Editor Stratford Post.)
Sir, —There is one tiling J think that lias not been mentioned in previous letters on the above subject, and that is the tendency of heavy Pates to cause people to live ana build outside the borough boundary, .and thus check the future progress of the town. If all the proposes loans are carried it is certain that the rates will be half as much again as they are now, which will not only lower the saleable value of town lands but will also cause tenants to pay higher rents to the landlord, or n the tenant has to pay the rates then, will bo half as much again. I ask if it is fair that all ratepayers should have to pay the interest on loans while only a portion of the ratepayers will get the benefit of the drainage, or waterworks? It seems to me that before loans are voted for that it should be arranged that those who will get the water or drainage systems to their houses would have to pay ir. proportion to the benefits they receive and that those who already iiave these benefits should bo made t-o pay a fail interest on their share cf cue cost.— I am, etc.,
0. N. CURTIS Stratford, March 17th.
