A STRATFORD IRON FOUNDRY

Air Bert Darkness, the well-known engineer of Stratford, has latch erected additional promises specially eons true tod for iron founding, a branch of the business which hitherto has not been carried on in Stratfoid. Mi Darkness lias also had erected a patent cupola blast furnace of latest up--to-date American design. This furnace was built in Wellington, ami lilted and erected by Mr Darkness s own men. It is of steel, and stands thirty foot high, and is capable of turning out two tons of molten medal per hour. The furnace is the best in design for the work intended that Mr Darkness could get hold of. Yesterday the first run was made, and under the direction of capable and experienced iron moulders, a vei\ successful afternoon’s work was performed. The furnace was found to work to perfection, and a full shop of castings was turned out, which appealed equal in every way to the best city foundry work. The installation of an iron foundry in Stratford is certainly a mark of the progress of business ventures in the town, and Mr Darkness is to bo congratulated.
