THE N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO.’S REPORT.

The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford branch report as follows: On Wednesday, sth instant, we yarded at our Te Wera sale 2450 sheep and 28 cattle. There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding wds fairly keen, at a somewhat lower range of prices than previously. Fair store lambs from 7s lid to 9s Id, cull lines ■ls 7d to Gs 6d, 2-tooth ewes up to 15s 3d, f.f.m. ewes from 7s 7d to 9s 2d, 2-tooth wethers 14s Bd, 4-tooth wethers 14s 6d to 15s Bd. There was a fair yarding of rams, and culls made from 4s 6d up to one guinea, while anything of fair quality and of useful type made up to 21 guineas. Store cows £4 15s to £5 2s Cd, 18-month steers 65s to 72s 6d. Since our last report wo have put through a considerable number of private sales at the following prices: Cull lambs 6s 6d, rape lambs (fair quality) 8s 6d to 9s, f.m. ewes 8s 6d to 11s 3d, 4-tooth ewes 15s, 2 and 4-tooth ewes up to 16s for good lines, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 14- 6d to 15s 6d, demand is slacker; rams up to 3 guineas. Mixed weaners 35s to 37s 6d, coloured weaner heifers (still in demand) 37s 6d to 50s, 2j-year heifers in calf (good quality) up to 107 s 6d. MATTHEWS. BENNETT AND CO’S REPORT.

Matthews, Bennett and Co. report that there was a big yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, bidding being good and most lines finding buyers at the hammer at the following prices: Mixed weaners £1 2s to £1 15s, a nice line of coloured weaner heifers £3 17s 6d, in-calf Jersey heifers £5 2s 6d (small), store cows £2 11s to £3 ss, forward do. £1 to £4 11s, fat cows £4 15s to £5 17s 6d, springing heifers £5 15s, springing cows £4 7s 6d to £5 10s, bulls (small) £1 IDs tp £4 6s, large up to £6 ss, store lambs 6s lid, rape lambs 9s, s.m. ewes (good) 10s, store wethers 14s 4d, small 2-tooth mixed 9s lid. At the horse fair on Friday last there was a good entry of horses, hut mostly of a poor class. Anything good vas in demand and sold well. 3be following prices were realised: Weeds £1 10s to £2 10s, hacks £5 to £l2, light harness horses £8 to £ls, spring cart horses up to £2l 15s, unbroken from £3 10s to £l2.
