THE RAILWAY STRIKE. (By Electric Telegraph. —Copy right.) (United Press Association.; London, March 7. The Midland railway directors will consider Richardson’s case to-day. All newspapers urge a re-ballot. TELEGRAPH MESSENGERS’ STRIKE. Sydney, March 7. The telegraph messengers threaten to cease work on Monday unless their wages are raised and a half-holiday is granted weekly, the half day for drill not being considered satisfactory. They have also formed a union.
AN AGREEMENT TURNED DOWN. Dunedin, March 7. At tho meeting of the Dunedin Trawlers’ Union last night, the secretary (S. Boreham) was directed to write to the Clerk of Awards stating that lie had been instructed not to affix the seal of the union to the agreement arrived at before the Conciliation Commission (Mr J. R. Triggs) and tho assessors last week. The .letter states that the recommendations arc altogether objectionable, and consequently are not acceptable.
