■— - ; young man pleads guilty TO BIGAMY. (Per Press Association A Palmerston North, March 8. At the Police Court this morning Charles Harvey, a young man, pleaded guilty to a charge of bigamy and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. The case presented rather unusual features. According to the evidence, accused married on December 27th last a young woman named Riley at New Plymouth. Evidently there was no honeymoon, for the next thing Harvey turned Up at Erankton, eloped with the daughter of a resident, and brought her to Palmerston. The father followed them up and found them here., The girl is still in her teens, A certain amount of pressure was brought to bear on accused, and he went to the Registrar’s office with the girl and wont through the form of marriage. The rumour got about, and when accused was interrogated he made a dean breast of it. The girl, in evidence, said she was seventeen, but her age on the marriage certificate was shown'as sixteen.
