ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

KILLED BY A TAXICAB. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, March 3. An old man named Frank McGavin, living by himself in a small hut on the slopes of Mt. Eden, was knocked down by a taxicab on Saturday night in Khyber Pass Road. The driver of the cab did not see the deceased until he suddenly loomed up in front of the cab, being struck by the vehicle. The driver swerved the car smartly to the right in an endeavour to miss the man but failed, and being lifted up and carried across the roadway in front of the motor, as it stopped McGavin dropped on to the roadway dead. He leaves a grown-up family, all of whom are married.
