THE TRADE COMMISSION.
Dhi' WcIIRISTCHHRCH. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, March 1. The Trade Commission opened the sittings at Christchurch this morning, members were welcomed by the President of the Chamber of Commerce. The Chairman, replying, said already they had seen enough of ’ the Dominion to realise that it had a brilliant future. The Secretary of the Lyttelton Harbour Board submitted a statement in regard to the port. When Mr A. Kayo was giving evidence, the point was raised as to the irregularity in the shipments of frozen meat. Mr Campbell suggested increased storage in the Dominion. Mr Kaye said he did not think the idea would be profitable, contending that the conditions at the London end required regulation. Mr , Marrincr, for the Chamber of Commerce, urged that the question of subsidies to shipping required investigation.
