EFFECT ON AUSTRALIAN COAL TRADE. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United Press Association.) (Received 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, February 28. Mr Neilson, reporting on the effects of the opening of the Panama Canal on the Pacific Coast coal trade, says: “It is impossible for Australian coal to compete with American coal as far as San Francisco is concerned, and we may conclude it as gone. 1 also think the same applies to the Hawaiian trade.”
