THE LATE DR. HARRISON.
■ INTERRED AT BLTHAM. No more striking evidence of the deep regard in which tlie late Dr. George A. Harrison was held could have been forthcoming than the almost universal mourning, of which evidence was given in Eltharn yesterday. On Monday morning the body was taken to the Anglican Church, the casket being piled with flowers sent from all parts of Taranaki. A vigil was kept all night and at 8 a.m. yesterday a private service was conducted by the Rev. G. W. Dent, Vicar of Eltharn. At 3.30 p.m. the usual solemn service followed in the church and at the graveside, the following being possibly the largest Eltharn has ever seen. The medical profession was represented very largely and fittingly. Drs. T. L. Paget and A. D. Carbery (Stratford) and Geo. Home, H. B. Leatham, D. S. Wylie, and E. A. Walker (New Plymouth) acted as pall-hearers. Dr. Valintine and Mr Herbert Valintine (brothers-in-law) and Masters jim and Pat Harrison (sons) were the chief mourners. A noticeable feature of the cortege was the number of old settlers and farmers it included, and the gathering of members of friendly societies, so many feeling the loss to be a really personal one. As a further mark of respect shops and business places were closed for a couple of hours during the funeral ceremonies.
