AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. A brilliant combination of star pictures was screened to a large audience at His Majesty’s Theatre last night. The finest of them all is the American Civil War drama, “Under a Flag of Truce,” easdy“ as good as the best and better than the rest.’ Variety is added to the programme by a record number of the Pathe Gazette, and a topical picture, showing the Reedham boys at Figure Drill. A few years ago a film of this class was produced and it met with a big reception, and, last night, patrons accorded the latest picture much applause. The manner in which the lads carry out a series of intricate evolution, and the spectacular display which results therefrom, is nothing short of wonderful. Another variety film, is the industrial showing the manufacture of glass bottles. “For Valour” is an unusual drama, and the plot is refreshing. Two lovers depart for the war, and their mutual lady-love has already announced her preference for the handsomest of the two. The favored one, however, is a coward. Discovered in his cowardice, he is hauled into the danger zone by his comrade. Then the latter falls, shot in the leg, and it is only at the revolver point, that he forces his mate to carry him out of tho firing line. A medal is presented him for valour, but, while the regiment never hears the true story, the girl does, and bravery meets with its true reward. A feature of tho evening was the delightful selections rendered by the Acme Orchestra, their musical programme contributing greatly to the enjoyment of tho evening.
