IX VERC ARGI ILL WOOL SALES. (Per Press Association.) Invercargill, February 21. The final wool sales were held today. Four thousand six hundred and eighty-tu o were catalogued. Prices were from Id to l.',d all round better than at the January sales, and quite on a par with the prices that ruled at Dunedin at tho beginning of the week. The mutton market is dull. WHEAT.—We quote c.i.f. 33s 3d Australian cargo. The market is firm. There is a fair demand owing to political situation. The market prospects on the Continent are fluctuating. We quote per quarter c.i.f. New Zealand wheat: Longberried 36s ■Gd, shortberried 365.

The N.Z.L. and M.A. Co., Ltd., report as follow: On Wednesday, lOtli instant, we held our sheep and cattle fair in our Kohuratahi yards, when there was a very large yarding of both sheep and cattle, consisting of 139 head of cattle, 1770 ewes, 781 wethers, 80 ranis, and 377 lambs. The bidding for cattle was dull, but a considerable number were sold at satisfactory prices after the sale. There, was keyn competition for all kinds of sheep, at somewhat lower prices than soniei weeks ago, and the yarding was practically cleared, with the exception of a small line of wethers, the offers for which did not reach the owner’s reserve. There was a very large attendance of buyers, and generally speaking the sale was a successful ono. Weavers, small, from 25s to 295, 20-month steers 71s to 755, 18month empty heifers 63s to 72s 6d, 18month heifers r.w.b. 77s to 87s 6d, 21-year old steers up to 955, 21-year old heifers 955, 3 year old bullocks 110 s to 120 s, store cows 90s to 105 s, bulls from 65s to 92s 6d, s.m. ewes 6s 3d to 6s Dd, f.rn. ewes 5s 6d to 8s 6d, quality not too good; 2-tooth owes ].4s 6d to 15s 7d; 4,6, and f.f.m. ewes up to 10s 7d; small line of 6-tooth ewes 1 Is, 2-tooth wethers, demand not so keen, 11s 6d to Its; 2-tooth and 4tooth wethers 13s 6d to 14s; lambs, small, shorn 7s 4d to 7s 6d; woolly lambs, fair quality 10s Id; rams, poor 13s Od to 1J guineas. A lino of Romney rams on account of a Tariki client were keenly competed for and realised from 3 to 3| guineas. During the week we have sold a large quantity of stock privately, especially lambs, which realised from 8s 3d to 10s 4d. Nice heifers, rising 3 year old up to- £3 ss; 18-month to 20-month steers, from £3 7s 6d to £3 15s; fat cows up to £5 ss.

Matthews, Bennett anci Co.’s Report. Matthews, Bennett and Co. report that there was a good entry of sheep at their Inglewood fair on Wednesday last, about 1000 sheep being offered and a number of cattle. Bidding was good and nearly all lines were disposed of. Good young ewes, sound mouthed ewes and lambs sold exceptionally well, and were in good demand. Following prices were realised: 4 and 6-tooth ewes 15s 5d to 16s, f.m. ewes 9e Id to 12s lOd, old ewes 5s to 8s 6d, woolly lambs 11s, good rape lambs (shorn) 11s, others 7s 3d to 8s sd, 2-tooth Romney rams 1U guineas, Border Leicester rams £2, aged rams 12s 6d to 21s. Forward cows £5 10s, store cows £3 10s to £4, empty heifers £2 18s to £3 17s, weaners £1 0s 6d to £2 2s, coloured weaner heifers £3 2s (these are in great demand), hulls £3 to £6 15s. At the sale in the estate of the late R. Shrebler on the Richmond road on Monday there was a good attendance, and everything sold well at the following prices: Dairy cows £5 7s 6d t) £9 10s, inferior £4 10s to £5 ss, empty cows £3 15 to £l, empty heifers £3 Ms, coloured weaner heifers small £2 Us, coloured weaner steers 6s 6d, horse £B, pigs £1 11s to £2 2s 6d, milk cart £ls 10s, furniture and sundries at satisfactory prices. Paddock sales.—Coloured heifers 2-j year old in-calf £7, 18-month steers I £3 10s, woolly lambs 10s, heavy mare £25. TARANAKI WOOL, SKIN. HIDE, I AND TALLOW SALE. - AIR. NEWTON KING’S REPORT. ' On Tuesday, 11 th instant, 1 held my, usual four weekly sale of above produce, the catalogue comprising 931 hales and 251 sacks wool, 2756 sheepskins, 22 casks and 51 tins tallow, 799 hides and 1003 calfskins, besides the usual assortment of hair, tails, bones, etc. Wool.—The offering comprised chiefly straggler and coarse crossbreds, competition, however, was very keen., prices showing an advance of pi to' pi per lb. There was a fair offering| of lambs’ woo], but this was mostly | seedy, good bright clean lines selling up to 10d per lb.
