HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. (For Press Association.) Wellington, February 17. The High Commissioner cables under date London 15th : Butter.—Market very unsettled. There is a good local demand for choicest, and a limited demand lor poorer grades. Lnsaltcd, which i-s scarce, is wanted for the Continent and commands 2s premium. New Zealand 114 s to 120 s per cwt (for best quality), Australian, Siberian, and Argentine 110 s, Danish 1295. Cheese.—Market quiet but steady. Average price for the week for finest New Zealand cheese per cwt is UOs 6d. Mr. Newton King’s Stratford Weekly Report. At rny Haymarket on Saturday last there was a fair Pigs were yarded in moderate numbers. Prices ruling still show a decline for small pigs. Stores were about par with last sale. 1 quote—Slips and weaners 7s to 10s 6d; small stores, 12s 6d to 16s Gd ;■ medium, 17s Gd to £1 4s; medium, £1 Gs Gd to £1 10s; good ditto, £1 11s to £1 17s Gd ; sows, £1 15s to £3 15s. At the Mart—- Poultry: Hons Is Id to Is 3d, cockerels Gd to Is 3d, roosters Is 3d, ducks Is Gd to Is 9d,gec«o 3s 3d to 3s 9d, potatoes 8s to 10s per cwt. Fruit: About 750 cases came to hand during the week, chiefly peaches. Apples Is 9d to ss, peaches (A. grade) 3s 9d to 6s, 13. grade 3s to 3s 3d, C grade Is Gd to 2s 9d, plums (over rope) Japanese Is to Is 9d, English 2s Gd to 3s 9cl, pears 4s Gd to 4s 9d, tomatoes 2s to ss, nectarines 3s to 5s Gd, cucumbers Is 9d to 2s Gd, according to quality and sizes of cases.
