PERSONAL.
The death occurred at Wanganui or Wednesday of Mr A. Elliott, formerly Collector of Customs at Christchurch and Wanganui. The Yen. Archdeason H. Stocker, chaplain to the Defence Forces, has been awarded the Colonial Auxiliaiy Forces long-service medal. He has served with the forces for nearly thirty years. The Minister of Marine (the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher) goes to Australia, accompanied by the secretary of the Customs, Mr Montgomery, on March 24th, leaving from the Bluff by the Maungonui. The object of the visit (says a Wellington wire this morning) is to enter into a discussion on the projected reciprocal agreement he tween Australia and New Zealand witi the Premier of the Commonwealth Subsequently Mr Foster, the Canadian Minister of Trade, will be in Australia, and a conference of Trade Ministers representing the Overseas Dominions will be held. The South African Government is unable to send a representative.
