SUICIDE WITH A GUN. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, February 12. Robert George Scott, commercial traveller, aged 32, residing at Sydenham, shot himself with a gun yesterday. He had been unwell for some weeks. At the inquest, a verdict of “suicide while of unsound mind” was returned. FOUND DROWNED. Palmerston N., February 12, Gordon AlcEwen, clerk of works, employed on a building in Eoxton, was found drowned this morning in the Manawatu River. Deceased was single and had no relatives in the Dominion. was about 50 years. GISBORNE ITEMS. Gisborne, February 12. Geo. Irvine, alias Cox, alias Hogden, who pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary at Alakuri and forging a cheque for £ls on the Union Bank, .yvas committed for sentence. Severe grass fires are raging in the Alangatu district, and considerable damage is feared.
