John Spargo (Customs officer),, Hoy Ling (Chinese interpreter), Hey Poo (dealer), were arrested on a charge of conspiring with persons in Hong Kong to procure the admission! of Chinese to the Commonwealth. A special officer who recently visited Hong Kong reported that an agency existed there for the disposal of naturalisation papers. DREDGE LOST IN “THE RIP.” While the dredge Dandenong, towed by a tug, was passing through The Pip, water entered the vessel and beat the pumps. The crew were transferred to the tug and the dredge shortly afterwards capsized and sank. The Dandenong was recently purchased by the naval authorities. DROWNED IN FLOODED CREEK. '• (Received 10.5 a.m.) Sydney, February 11. By the capsizing of a vehicle in Kaywell Creek, near Gundy, Alan Seaward (nine years old) and Keith Barr (nineteen), who went to the former’s rescue, were both drowned. The stream was swollen by storm water. KILLED BY AN ENGINE. Sydney, February 10. John Rankin, employed on the North Shore Railway, was struck by an engine, and succumbed. The police report that his parents reside in New Zealand. MURDER AND SUICIDE. Adelaide, February 10. A tragedy has occurred at Prospect. A coachbuilder named Frederick George Johnson quarrelled with his wife regarding a transfer of property. His wife obtained a summons under the Married Women’s Protection Act. When served, Johnson returned to the home and attacked his wife and a two-year-old child with a razor, almost severing the child’s head. He wounded his wife, but not seriously. Ho then cut his own throat. Johnson and the child are dead.
