Notwithstanding drizzling rain throughout the day, thirteen thousand visited the Trumper benefit match. The wicket was slow. Macartney and Barbour played brilliant cricket. Trumper had a great ovation. The Rest of Australia scored 358 (Matthews not out 18). New South Wales have lost three wickets for 214 (Barbour 86, Macartney 91, Trumper not out 27). ATHLETICS. (Sydney, February 9. Bradley defeated Audouy in the seventeenth round. j I YACHTING. NEW ZEALAND BOATS SUCCESS Sydney, February 9. In the Northeote Cup, in the first race, a three miles beat to windward and run back, twice round, starting from the Gellibrand light, the New Zealand yacht Rawhiti (the second challenger) beat the- Victorian yacht Killara (the defender) by 97 minutes In the second race, twice round a square course, the Rawhiti finished a mile and a half ahead. Choppy conditions prevailed m both races, and these favoured the winner. The Ra whiti won two straight heats, and the third race will not, therefore, Insailed. i
