COMMONWEALTH CABLES.

A CURIOUS MISTAKE. (Received 10.30 a.m.) Sydney, February 7. A regrettable incident occurred at the Lord Mayor’s reception of the Japanese Admiral and officers. While tho Japanese National Anthem was being played on the Town Hall organ, a chorus from the opera “Mikado,” which is most objectionable to tho Japanese, slipped in accidentally in the form of a march between two anthem movements. It was evident tho Admiral was displeased, and the Lord Mayor is writing regretting the unintentional affront.
