The cost of living to workmen, with a sufficient minimum wage to meet the necessities of a workman’s family, is to be a first charge upon the industry. TAKING VIOLENT MEASURES. (Received 8.0 a.rn.) New York, February 7. The garment workers threw bombs and wrecked several buildings. Three persons were injured. The police were incapable of dealing with the rioters. Assaults on the proprietors were frequent. Peace terms were proposed, and the workers arranged to take a vote on them. SHORT-WEIGHT. (Received 0.45 a.rn.) Sydney, February 7. The Boxburn miners claimed that the weighing machines were out of order and asked for an allowance for the shortage. This was refused a’nd the pit is now idle.
