EG MONT RACING CLUB. The Egmont R.C. Summer meeting concluded yesterday in splendid weather. Excellent racing was witnessed, and the arrangements were again excellent. The sum of £17,013 was put through the totalisator. making a total for the meeting of £34,191, an increase of over £9OOO bn last year’s figures. The Secretary (Mr J. A. Turton) and the officials generally, are to be congratulated on the thorough success of their popular meeting. The presence of the recently-appointed Stipendiary Steward had a beneficial effect, and mat tens sometimes hitherto overlooked were not on this occasion passed by. After the Okaiawa Hurdles, the stetv ards held an enquiry and suspended Kelly, the rider of Bercola for twelve months, on the ground that, in their opinion, he did not ride his horse oui “when he had a reasonable chance of winning.” No reflection, however, it was made quite clear, rested in an?, way on the owner of Bercola, or the horse’s connections. After the Nor manby Welter also, the Stewards had W. Young before them for “looking behind after entering the straight.” Young, who was riding North East just missed winning his race. A *aution was administered in this case. Details of the day’s racing are as under;— '
