AUSTRALIAN TERRITORIALS.
NON-PAYMENT OF FINES. Sydney, February 5. Mr Pearce says that the Federal authorities did not foresee that imprisonment could be inflicted under the State Act for non-payment of fines in connection with the Commonwealth Compulsory Training Act. Tho matter had been referred to tho AttorneyGeneral. AUSTRALIAN FREEDOM LEAGUE. The Australian Freedom League was formed last April in Adelaide tc secure the repeal of the compulsory clauses of the Defence Act. This movement has spread from South Australia to the other States with great rapidity. Every State in the Commonwealth now has an organisation of the league conducting a militant agitation against compulsory military training. Last week a con ference of tho league was held ir, Melbourne to formulate a Common wealth policy. All the States were represented, many of the delegates travelling over 2000 miles.
