LAMBETH LABOUR CONFERENCE
(Received 10.45 a.m.) London, January 30
The Labour Conference at Lambeth adopted a rule enforcing discipline within the party. In the House of Commons, Mr W. J. Thorne (Lab.) ’ said the thirteen Socialists never agree with tiie twentyseven Trade Unionists on economic questions. The Parliamentary Party was instructed by 850 votes to 437 to oijpo.se any Franchise Bill which excludes women.
Mr Phillip Snowden (Lab.) said Labour should demand a Government measure. Woman’s position was infinitely worse than it was a year ago, and a divided Cabinet must not obstruct the expressed will of the majority of the House.
The Labour newspaper, the “Daily Herald,” describes the conference at Lambeth as a greater farce than usual, as the delegates wont there to register the decrees of the inner caucus.
