A TRYING EXPERIENCE. (Per Press Association.) Napier, January 27. A party of amateur fishermen, comprising the two sons of Mr J. V. Brown, M.P., F. Moeller, P. Martin, and others' had a trying experience last night. They went out in the bay for a day’ fishing, and when several ’miles up the coast the motor broke down. The launch was adrift all night, but fortunately the weather continued fine, and the party was picked up by a trawler this morning and towed to port. A SHOOTING AFFRAY. Wanganui, January 27. As a sequel to the shooting affair in Keith street on January 7, a man names James Dunn appeared before the Court this morning charged with shooting with intent to grievously wound one Andrew Mather. Accused was committed for trial. A BOY ESCAPEE. Auckland, January 27. The boy burglar, John Bradley, who escaped from the cells on Saturday, was recaptured at Devonport at 5,30 p.m. to-day. It is supposed that ho took a dinghy from Freeman’s Bay and rowed across the harbour to Devonport. He discarded the dinghy and hid in a shrubbery in a garden. The police searched the garden without success. Subsequently the police were informed that he was biding in a house, and on a search being made he was recaptured. SHIPPING RATES ON FLAX.
