(Per Press Association.) Wellington, January 27. At the Supreme Court, Albert Henry Palmer, who was found guilty of; theft, urged that he was absolutely destitute when he stole the goods. The Chief Justice said there was no rea-j son for a man to be destitute when there was a shortage of labour all over the country. Sentence was deferred. ■George Conn, for the theft of a bicycle, was sentenced to twelve months’ reformative treatment. Joseph Murphy for forgery was sentenced to six weeks’ reformative treatment.
