LOST ON THE MOUNTAIN.
A YOUNG LADY MISSING. On Sunday morning a Fitzroy lady, Miss Oxenham, accompanied by a young man, left the New Plymouth Mountain House, says the “News,” to climb the mountain. A dense mist came on, ad the track was lost. The young man asked his companion to stop where she was while he picked up the track again. On returning he could find no trace of Miss Oxenham, though he searched all round. Another account is to the effect that me young lady was one of a big party, and, being tired she stayed behind. When the others returned, they could find no trace of her, and, believing her to have returned to the House, completed their journey, without searching further. At three o’clock this morning the search parties, which include the caretakers of both the New Plymouth and Stratford Houses, had met with no success. THE BODY FOUND. Inglewood, January 27. The body of Miss Oxenham was found this morning, after searching all night.
