Entries to date lor Messrs Matthew, Bennett and Co.’s Matau sheep fair are advertised. Messrs Halliwell arid Sellar publish an advertisement in this issue to the effect that Mr Newton King will sell tlie freehold estate and interest of a section containing eighteen perches more or less at hi s mart, Broadway, on February 22nd. The annual meeting of the Stratford Swimming Club will be held on Monday, 27th instant, at 8 p.m. Mr Newton King furnishes entries of his horse bazaar to be held on Saturday next. The schools are opening on Monday, February 3rd, and Mr Hopkins is opening up a very large stock of books, pads, slates, bags, and all school requisites ready for the day, and is advertising same on another page. Services at Wesley Church to-mor-row will be conducted by Rev. A. Reader. Evening subject, “The Ministry of Darkness.” All are cordially invited. x On Wednesday next, January 29th, Messrs Matthews Bennett and Co hold a stock sale at Inglewood. Entries to date appear elsewhere. Entries are now being received for Messrs Matthews, Bennett and Co.’s Inglewood weaner fair, which takes place on February 12. On Saturday, February 22nd, Messrs Matthews, Bennett and Co. hold a sheep fair at Tarata. Picnickers to the East End Beach on Thursday are notified that they can get summer drinks, etc., at the fruit stall on the ground at town prices. Divine worship will be conducted in the Broadway Church to-morrow morning by the Rev. B. Metson, and in the evening by Mr T. White. All heartily invited. x Attention is directed to the fact that owing to a mistake the consignment of biclcyes to have been sold at Mr Newton King’s mart to-day did not arrive in time and the sale has therefore been postponed until next Saturday, February Ist, when the chance of a lifetime to obtain a cheap bicycle of high-class make will be offered. Mr J. Murtagh and family publish a notice of thanks. A reward is offered for information leading to the recovery of a black slut. Tenders are invited for the erection of an office for Messrs Hy. Brown and Co. Things go together. If you have a cold, you know you need Tonking’s Linseed Emulsion. Is 6d, 2s 6d and 4s 6d. v Washing suits for boys are specialised to-day in the Egmont Clothing Co.’s new advertisement. With the near approach of the annual seaside outing the news is timely. The prices of these suits, which are in drill, repp, shantung, and tussore silk, have been greatly reduced, and mothers should be specially interested. With a ’varsity washing suit the boy will be happy. School suits are also stocked in big variety. x During the holidays the children are bright and happy and no better time could bo chosen for having them .photographed.
