THE NEW COMET.

(Per Press Association.) | Wellington, January 18

Information in regard to the comet discovered by Mr Lowe has been received by Mr C. E. Adams, Government Astronomer, from Melbourne Observatory. According to a cablegram published on Thursday the comet was discovered by Mr B. Lowe, of Adelaide, using a small telescope with a Sin. aperture. Melbourne Observatory recorded the position on three different dates, and the information, which purports to be the tesult of rough observations only, may be of interest to New Zealand astronomers. On December 30 its right ascension was 13hr 18 min and its right declination 6deg. 30min. On January 2 its ascension was 13hr 38min and its declination 17deg 40min. On Uanuary 6 its ascension was 14hr 30min and its declination 29deg 50 min.
