The Government Meteorologist (Rev, D. C. Bates) telegraphed this afternoon as follows:
The indications are for westerly winds strong to gale, and veering by west to south. Expect mild and hazy conditions. The weather appears likely to be cloudy and unsettled, with rain following. Barometer unsteady. A storm appears ,to, be approaching from the North, chiefly affecting ( the North Island. After,. 36 hours southeasterly winds strong to gale, and heavy rains to be expected with livers flooded.
