FIRES.
TWO CHILDREN BURNT TO
DEATH

A fatal fire occurred at Waitanguru, thirty miles west of To Kuiti, at 4.30 this morning. Two children of tho postmaster (Walter Jones) were burnt to death. One of the boys was 2\ years old, and tho other 17 months, and they were the only children. It is surmised that the fire was caused by bush fires, which are numerous .n the district.
TWO STORIED BUILDING. Wellington, January 20.
About 12 p.m. on Saturday a fire occurred in a two-storied wooden building in Manners Street. The fire was aided by a strong wind, but was got down by the first brigade after considerable damage had been done by smoke and water. Those affected are W. Stanley (jeweller), Neville (agent), Hanna (signwriter), and Mrs Ingerton (music teacher). The insurances unavailable. The building was owned by Mr Dalziell and Dr. Grace. ,
