RECORD FIGURES
WELLINGTON EXPORT OF WOOL
AND FLAX
Nearly eighteen thousand more bales of wool and flax were handled by the Wellington Harbour Board during the four weeks ending on the 6th hist, than in the corresponding period hftiast year. This, said the chairman of the Board (Mr. R. Fletcher) to a ‘Now Zealand Times’ representative yesterday, is a record for the period. Comparison between the number of bales received by the Board from the railways during the respective periods is made in this table: — 1911-12. 1912-13. Woof (bales ... 21,466 37,566 Flax (bales) ... 2,996 4,619 Totals ... 24,462 42,215 The actual increase.on the totals was thus 17,753 bales. In a reference to the great rush of wool which has so severely tested the resources of the Board of late, Air. Fletcher said that they now had the back of, it broken, and were able to cope quickly with all that might bo sent along.
