N.Z. FARMERS’ UNION.

TARANAKI PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE. The ordinary monthly meeting of t he Taranaki Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held at Hawera on Thursday. Present: Messrs. J. Davidson (president), R. Lambie, J. Thomson, A. E. Washer, R. Dunn, J. Swindlehurst, G. H. Buckeridge, and H. Buxton. Leave of absence was granted to all absent members. Export Duty on Hides. The Advisory Committe wrote stating that steps would be taken to prevent any export duty being imposed on hides. Noxious Weeds. The Te Roti branch forwarded the following resolution: “That the attention of the noxious weeds inspector be called to the amount of noxious weeds now flowering, and that the Noxious Weeds Act be rigorously enforced.” It was resolved to bring the matter under the attention of the district inspector; also that ho be provided with a quicker means of locomotion.

It was also resolved that the branches be instructed that when dealing with noxious weeds they communicate direct with the inspector and also the executive. Farmers' Mutual Insurance.

The Advisory Committee sent a copy of a letter which had been sent to all the branches of the union asking for information as fo what labour was required.

It was resolved that the Advisory Committee be informed that the best means of getting information quickly would be to send a similar letter to all dairy factories.
