Shortly after 10,30 last night a fire was discovered in No. 1 shelter deck of the s.s. Nairnshire The ship’s officers, assisted hy some of the crew and the waterside workers, got a hose to work, and after half ar work the fire was pub out. It was discovered that some + ow had taken hre, but the extent of the damage done by the fire and water it not at t* esent known. AT TIMA RU ROAD On Tuesday in ruing a five-roomed nouse on Timaru road, TaUraimaka, owned and occupied by Mis Wisnewski, was completely destroyed by fire. There was an insura -e of £l2O on the cottage, in the State Office, and £i3o on the furn'tur and effects in the Ocean Company.
