THE LOAN PROPOSALS.
(To the Editor “Stratford Post.’’)
Sir,—His Worship the Mayor ptoposes to separate the issues of the loan proposals. This will mean that none of them will be carried. M ill the ratepayers of the North-east portion vote for the bridge, or those south cf the bridge vote for North-east drainage, or either of them vote for improvements in Broadway? Certainly not! Really, the only solution to the question is that separate rating areas should be made. Let those of us that want the bridge pay for it. Let those who want drainage do the same, and so on. If this were don© there need he no scramble. Each area supplies its own wants out of its own pockets. It may be urged that there are certain revenues available to pay interest on the loan. These could easily be adjusted in accordance with the amount each rating area wishes to raise, and also in accordance with the benefit the general public would receive.—l am, etc..
